Hi, my husband was diagnosed yesterday with type 2 diabetes. He is 81 years old and otherwise quite healthy but I am struggling as to what to cook etc so any help or useful cookery book recomendations would be very gratefully received. I do all the cooking and shopping so a bit overwhelmed at the moment.
Regards
Hello, @jeaarm , and welcome.
Lots of info for newly diagnosed in my signature. Just scroll down beneath the post.
Lots of members here manage their T2 diabetes by reducing the carbs in their diet. This is fine and very effective, as long as not on medication that can cause very low blood glucose, (hypo). So they ease up, or cease althougether anything sweet, (including a lot of fruit,), starchy veg -root veg, rice, pasta. Don’t be afraid to increase fats such as butter, full fat milk and yogurt.
Plenty of recipes can be found on the diet doctor website.
