Been diabetic since 6 years, my endocrine doctor gave me a fasting range of not more than 150 (8.8) as he told that I have strong familial history of diabetes and it is genetic. I am taking up victoza 1.8mg, NPH 20 unit, Glucophage 2000mg, cozaar 50mg, diamicron 90mg, Lipitor 40 mg., strict diet and exercise, but still, just had my lab test - hb1c - 12.8 (fasting for 12hours).

So it looks like there are some adjustments needed to get your A1c down a good bit. I honestly have no idea what the majority of your medication does, but I do know that it probably needs adjusted.

Can you tell us a bit more about your diet please? What do you eat and how often?

How long have you been using insulin and has it always been 20u?

Do you test your BG regularly? What are your levels (typically):

-before meals
-two hours after meals
-last thing at night
-first thing in the morning

If you can't answer any of the BG questions because you don't test, then it would be strongly recommended that you purchase a meter and some test strips.

Regards,
Grant
