Hi guys and gals, my mom is type 2 and she's complaining of excessive heat rising to her mouth. She's burning up inside but the thermometer reading is fine. She's virtually suicidal about it.
She does feel hot but how much of this is psychological?

I get hot flushes.
Mainly I feel like someone's suddenly turned the heat up. I start sweating buckets. Just like on a very hot day, only much worse. I also get very red faced and flushed. When I have one in my sleep my sheets, quilt cover and bedclothes are wringing wet. The hot flushes do not last long - how long does your Mum's heat symptoms for? Or is it more continuous?
I have never felt hot inside, but that may just be how it affects me.

I agree with the other posters - especially if her periods are still regular - see her doctor. Even if it IS the menopause. If it's affecting her this bad the doc should be able to help. Please encourage her to go to the docs because hot flushes aren't fun even when they're not too bad :-(

Give her our love - especially from the ladies who have 'enjoyed' hot flushes ;-)

Take care,

E

It could be the menopause, but what are her bg readings like? I remember when I was very high I used to feel very hot yet still was kind of shivering, much later I found out this was actually caused by ketones.

Best check with the doctor and do let us know what her bg is like.

Could she have acid reflux? This gives intense horrible burning pain in the midline of the chest. It doesn't go over the head or make your face go red however like menopausal flushing.
