why can't everyone get on........
what a rubbish day
starts last night when following a 61 carb meal properly bolused for on a 5.2 pre meal BG..............
by 9:10 i was 6.8 cool he says to self
10:30 and 12.6 -- *** is going on - eaten this meal loads of times and never had a spike before
retest to make sure not a bad finger etc etc ---- 12.3 so it is a 1.3 correction.....
bedtime now at 11:20pm test comes in at 12.1so pump gives me a 1.55 correction and off to bed I go thinking ....**** will be a bit high tomorrow ( expecting a 7.5-10.0 type reading )
next morning ( today )
6:55am first test at waking 16.3 -- whaatttt !!!!!!!!!!
8.35u correction and sit it out ..................
next test 10.00am 11.2 **** .....not falling fast enough ( 1.45u correction )
ok so here are my test through out the day
11:20am 11.8 ( 3.05 correction ) all are pump suggested
12:05pm 11.9 0 correction
1:00pm 11.1 ate lunch of 67 carbs -- first food today ) and bolus of 17.45u --- but here is where the fun really starts
as bolus going in start to smell insulin -- and sure enough adhesive is wet --- so pod change ( using existing vial )
next test
3:10pm 10.7 -- not pleased but thinking that give new pod time to settle on top of meal ( plus 1.1u correction )
4:25pm 12.4( plus 2.5u correction )
6:10pm 13.9 ( plus 6.10u correction ) at this point add a 50% increase in basal rate for 2 hours as well
7:00pm 13.9 bolus for 35 carb evening meal ( but don't eat any of it) at 5.0u plus a 6u manual pen bolus
8:00pm 11.5 ( no correction allowed )i then eat plate of protein meal salmon plus prawns plus ham ( yes weird but hey ho )
do another pod change with a brand new vial of insulin from fridge -- waiting for for first test on new pod at approx 9:30pm
arrrrrgggghhhhhhhh !!
updates to follow
not reallyIt's good to remember that insulin resistance kicks in on the higher readings so you need to over ride the pump sometimes. Was your meal high fat by any chance?
thanks for thatHi @himtoo, I find that most of my stubborn sugars tend to be pump/cannular related. When I correct I disconnect and let the insulin flow through out of the cannular so I have a record. Then I correct with a pen into the thigh muscle. I find that's quicker.
I've heard that some people think the site can get a bit 'waterlogged'. I take roughly 25 units a day on the pump but if I go above that the site doesn't work as long.
Other reasons? The wind has changed direction, it's raining, it's sunny, I didn't put my lucky socks on ......
never mind -- your heart was helping me and that is what mattersOmnipod duh!!! Of course no uncoupling.

I was staggered to realise the random nature of all this only very, very recently. Over decades it had been drummed into me that if I always do the 'right' things the numbers would be right. The fact that they weren't seemed therefore an indication that I 'must try harder'..... But I've finally realised that I'm only human and some factors one just can't control!Couldn't agree more, it was realising that there was no rhyme or reason that oddly enough helped me to accept type 1 more, what worked one day and didn't the next just presents the fact that if I had taken the right amount of insulin, and was running high so ruled out stress, exercise, hormones, weather, lucky socks or lunar cycle that it was sometimes best to go to bed and start again the next day
i still don't think psychologically i can get my head round this concept totally , but i try to .I was staggered to realise the random nature of all this only very, very recently.
