I know everyone is different but can someone tell me what a 12 year old boy bolus rate should be. He was on .5 to 10 carbs. I have just changed it to .6 to 10 carbs (for a 24 hour period). His basals seem fine. Its just that he is high 2 hours and more after he has eaten inbetween meals.
This situation did not creep up. It seems upto last wednesday everything was fine. Since then high all the time but only if he is haveing inbetween meals.
I have changed the canular and line twice. I even used a new bottle of insulin.
He is on the accu-ckek combo.
By the way. He love it and tell me he would never go back to injections :D

As stated above i will take it as advice.

Thanks for all you help you have given me so far and i hope you can all help on this matter. Ian

How long has your son been using his pump?

Assuming that his basal is correct (and at 12 the basal needs can change quite quickly) so might need to check this to ensure that this isn't the underlaying problem..

His your son bolusing for his inbetween snacks?

If this is a sudden change, is your son coming down with any sort of infection or perhaps a problem that might be causing him to stress out, all things that can effect BG...

As to carb-insulin bolus ratio's, they can be quite individual indeed so it's difficult to suggest that you would be looking at xxx amount give or take at a certain age group...
