Maybe I can get help, I have extreme thirst, tongue like sandpaper, difficulty swallowing sometimes, after eating I feel terrible.
Bought a metre and before food my reading is 4.2 then two hours later sometimes I am 8.6 or in the 5 area?
I have brain fog after eating, something happening to eyes and feet!! Help

could also be food allergy... or fear based bodily reactions... you could write down what you eat and find out what spikes you the most of foods... when you measure, you already know what you have eaten, and not everything spikes equally..

if you scroll down this page in the following link , you can see what levels to expect and aim for the different kinds of diabetic types...

All you can do is keep a food diary, record your before and 2 hour after levels, and make an appointment with your GP. We can't diagnose you. Only your doctor can do that, but do show him your diary.

Hi,

I'd advise you to go to see your GP just to make sure. Better to be safe than sorry.

As others have said, see if you can link these feelings to particular foods, or food quantities.

And you may find www.bloodsugar101.com interesting reading. Lots of info on the site about what is normal and abnormal blood glucose, and where things go wrong, with the hows and the whys.:)

Hello @Liverpoolfc, welcome to the forum:)

I think @Freema may have forgot to provide a link for you in her post, so here it is:

https://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes_care/blood-sugar-level-ranges.html

Your profile says you are pre-diabetic, was this confirmed by an HbA1c test? The symptoms you're presenting are certainly classic hyperglycemia ones. Are you also urinating a lot more than normal?

It's possible that your body is struggling to deal with carbohydrates as well as it once did and as such you may have progressed from pre-diabetic to diabetic. The only way to be certain however is to visit your GP and request an HbA1c test. For the results to be most conclusive, it's best not to make any drastic adjustments to your typical diet. Although reducing your carb intake will more than likely improve the way you're feeling, that may also impact the results of the test too...
