Hi all,

Does anyone suffer from myopathy (muscle weakness) caused by diabetes? Before my diagnosis as t1, I had quite severe myopathy in both legs - up to the point where walking was a problem. It has subsided very quickly after diagnosis (and getting my bg to normal) but I'm still getting weird pain in my legs.
It usually gets worse after activity, it's something between a muscle cramping up to the point of pain and going numb at the same time, quite hard to explain.
My GP suspected neuropathy but I was not convinced, since it seems more muscle related. So GP suggested seeing a physiotherapist as it may ne the myopathy still playing up.

I started taking vitamins, especially magnesium, as I know it plays a role with muscles and nerves - I wanted to rule out a vitamin deficiency. This hasn't changed anything much.

My GP is not being any more helpful, my DSN wants me to talk to the consultant, but I'm waiting 5 months for an appt and still no news. The waiting list for a physio is over 2 months...

I got a private appointment for initial consult with a physio tomorrow, will see what they say.
Anyone around with similar problems?

It seems I'm getting the not-most-common complications... Cataracts, myopathy... And I'm not getting the "popular" stuff - no signs of retinopathy, my BP is perfect... I can't stop thinking that the doctors are missing something, but how am I supposed to know what!
