mean people, corrupt politicians, poverty, happy pharmaceutical ads;
I nap a lot, especially after my evening meal. I check my numbers as obviously hyperglycemia comes to mind -- but it's normal, e.g. 5.5-7.0 before and after eating. Is this common with other diabetics here? My husband serves water or diet coke with ice cubes for a drink; i rarely drink wine except at holidays.

I was getting that a lot after lunch and dinner, it also happens if I go for several hours without eating and/or if I've not drank a lot of water that day.

The tiredness (and foggy head) is the single most frustrating symptom I experienced starting a few months ago before I was tested for sugar levels - two weeks ago at my first appointment with the specialist, he told me at my Hbac1 level (last one 7.3) I shouldn't experience this much tiredness as it's seen as good control so could be something else going on.

(I was diagnosed T2 a few weeks ago) and not on any meds yet until they do the insulin tests on me although Metformin has been suggested as the next likely step.

I'm trying to figure out if it's certain things that are causing it as I never got this fatigue before. I can easily go to sleep within minutes and for about an hour.

I have cut down my portions and reducing the carbs over the last few weeks so far seems to have helped me. But everyone's different and I've been denied a glucose meter twice now with various excuses given so I'm stumbling about in the dark...

Doubt this will help much but it was just to let you know that you've asked the very question that's been bugging me also, so hopefully others will be able to shed some light on this one :D

Thank you for your reply Sanober. It's very kind of you to give me information on your case; yeah it is kind of mysterious: i've been researching it and i found some strange things:

- the stomach is not emptying very fast

- and here is something i found after my post:

yup 2 hrs. after a meal;

That could be it. The sleep if you can call it sleep is irresistible and feels more like a drug than natural sleep, but it does vary in duration according to the size/type of meal.

tx again-- i hope you like the article.

Thanks for this intersting link, been trying to google my symptom but couldn't get anything.

It's an overwhelming feeling isn't it? An urge to stick your head on a pillow and nothing at all matters than to sleep.

It's not happening so much the last two weeks after eating, only thing that I've changed is portion control, eating more regularly and reducing carbs (but upping the veg).

With no means of seeing the glucose levels it's very hard to know really what exactly is causing it but I'm tuning into my body as much as I can :wink:

Oh well - let's see what my Hbac1/fasting glucose results are next week.

Portion control and spacing of meals, percentage of carbs and fats may be variables to watch. I think a smaller or more largely spaced in time meal may stop the naps. My measurements have not been consistent with respect to the above. My nurse taught me what kind of meals to eat (but 3 with snacks); but i suspect mini-meals through the day may be better. It's a bit of a pain to play chemistry set you understand, but that does not mean i get an accurate picture over repeated tests. If I recall from highschool, repetition is one of the important scientific criteria. Gee, i wonder if they practice that in control trials anymore.
