Well back from our week in St Ives Cornwall and the naughty eating we did there. Could not resist the scones jam and cream that were waiting for us in the cottage when we arrived and we had some more on another day also Cornish pasties which we had one day for lunch did not eat all the pastry though but of course as is traditional there is quite a lot of potato in them. The rest of our meals were not to bad meat, veg and salad mostly and we only ate out one evening in a pub where I had beef stew with a couple of small dumplings and my husband had a homemade burger in a brioche roll and he only ate half of the roll. .We were there with our daughter and son-in-law and she cooked breakfast eggs bacon sausage and mushrooms every day after we had been walking on the beach with the dogs something I can't eat at home but really enjoyed it there must have been the sea air. Both my husband and I are T2 and we never tested our blood once all the time we were there we just wanted to enjoy it and not let the diabetes spoil it.
At our age I am 77 and had it for about 18 months and my husband 84 and T2 for about 2 years and we know from regular annual blood tests we did not have it before then I don't think one naughty week and the odd occasion having something naughty at home will affect us to badly Our son who has 1.5 diabetes was told by his consultant you have to have badly controlled diabetes for many years to have serious complications and of course very many people will never have them at all so we are not worrying about that
