I know that a lot of Type 2's are being told that they do not need to test their blood sugars. This is a cost cutting exercise by their local PCT's and you are told that an HBA1c test will keep things in check and that you will get worried if your sugars are too high or too low. Some have even been told that your fingers will become to sore if you keep testing. Excuses are rife as to why you shouldn't test and some people do agree with this.
If you need to manage this condition then you need to test as you will never know what is affecting your levels. It is so much easier to see that you may need to cut the portion size of something or even omit it from your diet. Your meter is your best friend when you are newly diagnosed.
You can get a free meter from Abbots and their test strips can be purchased direct at a much cheaper rate than some of the other makes.
