Sorry I was just wondering.. I'm having my eyes screened tomorrow, and they are using eye drops for the first time, how long does the effect of the eye drops last?

I just need to know because I'm supposed to be meeting up with a friend not long after!

Thanks!

HI

When I have mone done the effetcs usually ware off pretty soon after, maybe 10-15 minutes.
Of course it may not be the same for everyone

Oh when I have mine done it lasts about 3 hours, I can't drive for about 4 hours. Take sunglasses with you, the light really hurts your eyes at first. Good luck

OUCH, I guess am lucky with the effects from the eyedrops then, but like I said, its different for everyone

It's generally several hours, unless you'll like me who happens to be one of the unfortunate people that full strength eye jobs can take absolute hours to clear, in my case up to 8 hours or so  And boy does it give you a banging headache..

They now use children's eye drops on me, with is about half the strength of normal drops, much better but still takes a couple of hours to clear... But a lot better as it doesn't cause the banging headache I used to get..

I had mine done on Friday. Sight was affected for about three hours, but my pupils were huge for about six. I Looked possessed! :)

Do you think I should ask for the childrens drops then so that it clears quicker?
I'm 17, and this is the first time, so I'm sure they wouldn't mind :S

To be honest, if you wear sunglasses then you should be fine. I still managed to go out shopping after my test last week. I had to wear glasses and my sight was a little blurry, but it was ok.

The tests are nothing to worry about. They eye drops are a little uncomfortable but only few a little bit.

Be sure to take sunglasses with you as you will need them when you come out.

Em x

I would agree with Elc, is not too painful, just a bit uncomfortable. As long as you don't need to drive or read a book or computer you should be fine. Things will be blurry but you can walk about, go shopping, eat lunch! Sunglasses are essential! Good luck!

Watch out for price tags. I picked up a bag that I thought was £75. Got it to the till and it was £750. Big embarrassing lol

Ahh thank you everyone for your help!
I had my first eye drops yesterday, and It didn't hurt.. but wasn't the best thing ever, and it did make my headache! ahah well I guess it's just something we have to go through :/
