T2 but have not done a good job controlling with diet; I was trying REAL hard not to have to take meds. I'm 65 and healthy other than that. My issue and question: My rotator cuff surgery was rescheduled because A1c was 9.4. Metformin and low carb diet, rechecking in a month, surgery rescheduled to Jan 23. In y'all's vast opinion and expertise - taking 1000 mg of the meds and staying really strict on diet (and I am!) can I expect to be at 8 in a month? Dr. seems to think so. I'm hoping. Also have not lost ANY weight these past 2 weeks; maybe I'm expecting more than should be. Any help?

Hi, as a guess… yes! But if so, it will likely be the diet not the meds. Just a guess though, good luck

Hello and welcome @Linda628

How low carb are you going? The reason I ask is that our bodies are all different and we have different levels of carbs that we can tolerate. I am very low carb which works for my body most of the time.

If you are low carb- does your diet contain artificial sweeteners? I find that some really affect my blood sugar levels- others are fine.

There are other factors such as stress, lack of sleep that can affect blood sugar levels and some medication may also increase your levels.

If you don't have a meter I really recommend getting one.
