Hi guys im totally confused here one again, this morning at 10am my blood sugar was 4.9 so i had 2 cups of coffee with no sugar from mcdonalds and an apple to eat, 2 hours after this i checked my blood again and it was 7.9, can anyone tell me please why this has happened, i didnt think coffee would shoot my blood up that much!! thankyou in advance guys

Hi stevie2065, most likely the apple and the milk in your coffee, the average apple contains 1= 2 teaspoons of sugar, milk contains lactose, try single cream in your coffee .

Milk in the coffee and the apple would probably spike me like that but I would make sure I'd washed my hands before testing and if I'd forgotten I'd re-test. Coffee by itself is usually ok. I drink it all day with almond milk and a dash of double cream.

thanks clive, im really amazed that coffe and apple can do this, i would usually eat maybe 6 apples a day, but not anymore lol

thankyou dee for taking the time to reply to me, as i was telling clive i would usually eat 6 apples a day but i wont be doing this again, i take almond milk with my cereal so i may start doing the same with my coffee, i always wash my hands before testing and check with 2 different meters, thanks again Dee

What we do is eat a little of what spikes us then test and eat a little more to see if its tolerable or if its off the menu.

Hi Stevie, you might want to reconsider the cereal as well, full of carbs/sugar.
