I'm a fussy eater really can't stand eggs, not a veg person unless it's on a Sunday dinner smothered in gravy, not a great fruit lover, always been a stodgy carb person but now need less carbs more other stuff haha any help for my food issues or ideas :)

I love chocolate and bread lol but understand things have to change xx
Hiya. I see from your other post you've had to wait a while to get diagnosed and haven't felt too good meanwhile. But you also know things have to change. Don't worry, it's only a matter of habit and many of us who have had to try different sorts of food actually enjoy it now. Plus we feel so much better.
Don't forget that carbs are addictive (the more you have, the more you want) so they won't let go of you easily. But now you've got the forum to support you. We've all been there!

Carbs were all I literally ate am gonna find this so hard I've made a start though I had yoghurt for breakfast the Greek one and some grapes.....are grapes ok? I've replaced my sugar in coffee with canderel and I'm planning chicken slices and cheese no bread for lunch can I eat lasagne though or is that really bad? That was tonight's tea haha xx

I have some bite sized shredded wheat for breakfast during the week with skimmed milk. I only have 12 as anymore raises my sugars. For lunch try some cooked meats, cheese and some chilled grapes. Again around 12 to 16 grapes keeps me under my threshold. For evening meal have your meat, bulk up with a veg you do like and if you must have carbs then try a few baby potatoes. You will find you are fuller for longer the less carbs you eat. Also drink plenty of fluids.

Good work, keep going. Grapes are dodgy (sugar bombs) so try berries (straw-, rasp-, blue- etc). Chicken & cheese fine but chuck some green veg in or you'll overdo the protein. It's like riding a bike, you wobble one way, then another, but suddenly you can do it. You CAN do it!
Sorry, lasagne is dodgy too but try eating only a small amount of the pasta and have a salad with it, topped with mayo & cheese.
Hellmans original full-fat mayo is the stuff..

I had chicken cheese rolled up in lettuce will keep the lasagne for tea but have less and a huge side dish of veg smothered in Mayo good job I love Mayo lol and my shop trip tomorrow will be buying berries can I add muesli or oats to the yoghurt and berries? And any suggestions for quick snacks because I am really hungry now I don't have my carbs xx

trying finding a nut or a cheese you like and use them for quick snacks.
Oats/muesli can be a challenge to the bloods, test and see.

Excellent job there. Not all of a lasagne is off the menu because minced beef is good. As above, muesli & oats are iffy. Snacks can be handful of mixed nuts, tsp low-carb peanut butter, cheese chunks (Babybel), and have a look on the forum for low-carb cooked goodies you can keep for snacks http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/mug-cake.79534/#post-914371

Haha just cheese for me then don't like nuts or seeds or peanut butter god I'm gonna be bad aren't I xx

Yes well I don't like spinach but I now get it stuck between my teeth just like everyone else in the cause of keeping my BS down :***:

Hi, you're doing well :) I found I was a little hungry just for the first few days. Once I had found suitable things to eat and my body got more used to it, I was not as hungry. It gets easier. Keep up the good work!

I have found porridge - original - no sugar, part water and lactose free milk and I am OK for breakfast.
You could try Rye crackers with your chicken/cheese or a couple of oat biscuits.
I am OK on new potatoes so that is what I have with my evening meals.
Snacks are difficult I have found - although I am new to being diabetic - a few unsalted nuts are OK - I like toasted pumpkin seeds with a little soy sauce (to toast, a dry fry pan on a low heat - put in the seeds in the pan and move them around in the pan, turning them over until they are toasted - around 5 mins - then add a splash of soy sauce and coat the seeds - turn out and let them cool, put in an air tight box) it is worth a try!
I was advised anything ending in 'Berry' was an OK fruit but make sure you don't eat too many.

Through this site I found Soya and Linseed Bread which is OK for me to have so try and find this in the supermarkets and hopefully that will satisfy the bread replacement.

Good luck with things it does seem to take a while to get to grips with and as we all react differently to different carbs it is worth thinking about getting a testing kit.

I recommend the Lidl high protein rolls 39p each they are low carb and very filling! Also something I picked up on this site boiled eggs with cheese strips to dip instead of toast soldiers I just tried it delicious
