Thanks Redsnapper. My head feels a little overloaded at the minute and I didn't get great advice from doctors but there's too much evidence on here that LCHF works . I'm taking the plunge with those fats but will be keeping a check on amount of calories .Hey Amanda.Firstly well done on getting your BG levels down so well in three weeks.I would really concentrate on this firstly and maybe let the weight loss come to you as it will with LCHF.
This is the place to be for support,so stick with us.The most important thing is to get the carbs down.If you can get below 30 g a day you should go into Ketosis. Then your body will be burning up fat.To stop feeling hungry you will need to eat good unprocessed fats, this is to replace the now redundant carbs. So cheese, butter, cream, olive oil, avocado, bacon pate etc and always full fat versions of say yoghurt as the reduced fat ones have more sugar!! So I know it takes a bit of getting your head around but don't be afraid of natural fat,as a diabetic it turns out it's good for you,who knew?
Check out the low carb recipes and there is a great thread "what have you eaten today" great for ideas.
You will soon become an expert carb counter, so supermarket shopping takes a lot longer,as does cooking from scratch, but it really is the way forward.
Have a look at the success stories thread for inspiration.
Above all else stick around here with all of us.It can take a little while to get your BG to near normal as you may have Glycogen stored in your muscles and liver.Took me about three months.
Well done
Bulkbiker I'm a little worried that in the past I've over eaten as I don't seem to get the signs of feeling full, even though that seems to have changed this last couple of weeks. I was always hungry which I think is linked to the Diabetes.Forget calories for the first few weeks.. just try and eat low carb high fat see if you feel hungry (you very probably won't) if the weight doesn't fall off then worry about calories but I'd be surprised if it didn't.
