Hi everybody I'm new here and not sure if I'm posting in.the right place so please forgive me if I am not. I have a 7 year old son is constantly poorly but I can't explain how he is when he's poorly he has no temperature, he says his belly is sore and he's very tired then he will be sick, I took him to a&e last Thursday because I'm sick of 'its a virus' anyway they couldn't find anything apart from protein in his water. After talking to a friend about it here asked me how my son's feet were??? My son has terrible feet but doctor told me it was down to trainers, his feet can be so sore, my friend gave me a machine to test his glucose levels I've been doing this since Friday night, first when he wakes, 2 hours after eating and before he goes to bed: these are his readings: 17.4 Friday night at 9pm, 6.9 sat 8am, 8.6 sat 11am, 5.8 sat 2pm, 13.5 sat 9pm, and then 10.6 this morning, I'm not sure if I'm just worrying about nothing so would like any advice, thank you very much
Thank you, have been making him wash his hands before I checkPlease make sure that hands and fingers are washed before testing..
Thank you, have been making him wash his hands before I check
Readings above 6.0 are reason to be worried.... What had son ate?I may just be worrying over nothing nothing, but coming on here has helped me alot so thank you
Friday I did it at 9pm and it was 17.5 but he plays football 6-7 and had a lucozade energy drink whilst playing, sat morning I did it before he had anything to eat and it was 6.9, then 2 hours after he had eaten a coco pops breakfast bar and it was 8.6, today he's had a breakfast bar, a sausage sandwich, and stew and dumplings and the lowest was 6.5, but again I did it when he first woke at 9.15 before any food and it was 10.6, sorry if any of this confuses ux
Lucozade can certainly raise levels... However 2-3 hours after drinking it they shouldn't really be this raised..
6.9 to 8.6 is only a minimal raise in levels but 6.9 was a little too high in the first place..
10.6 when first testing in morn and pre food was again too high.
Certainly you should speak to your GP about this as it appears that your son's pancreas is struggling or impaired for some readon. I think if you put it like this it would be forcing your GP to look in to further.
Be aware that your GP may say that a bottle of lucozade will raise levels significantly.....and may appear to put the lucozade as a reason for the higher level.
I realised after I did the test on Friday that he had a lucozade so I just presumed that's why it was high, but like u said it was 2 hours after he had it, but again at 9pm on Saturday it was 13.5 and he only had chicken nuggets and chips and a small piece of chocolate but again I left it 2 hours before testing, I have wrote all this down ready to take to the doctors, I'm hoping they do some test x
I will do and thank you for all the advice and information you have been a great helpI'm sure they will do tests.. It does seem to be a little too high and indicating some intolerance towards food and impairment toward the pancreas working.
Please let us know how you and son get on..
