How do you dispose of your needles?

I've just moved to Westminster in London and there doesn't seem to be a way of disposing of sharps like where I used to live?

Where I'm from the council provide a sharps box and when it's full they come and collect but Westminster council know nothing about this.

I asked my GP and he said the pharmacy do it, the pharmacy then said the GP to do. I asked my consultant at the hospital and they have no idea.

The needles are piling up... Anyone who lives around here know how to get rid of them?

Hi, I don't live in your area but have a similar situation where I am. The GP should prescribe a sharps box for you., and shame on him if he doesn't know how you should dispose of it!! In our area there is only one Chemist who will take them and its down to me to get it there! Ridiculous situation but many of the local councils just don't want to know anymore. Try phoning round till you find one - that's what I did on the end. Good luck Sue xxx

Most of the London NHS trusts expect you to take your sharps box to the gp. I'd just take it in there and drop it on their doorstep.
