Hi I was diagnosed type 5 years ago, have attended annual eye test, last one was told ok now 8 months later recalled as have detected macular? changes and been given an 'urgent' appt. I have a fear of hospitals since my mum was wrongly diagnosed and then passed away and my mother in law lost her sight in one eye due to an 'error' at the same hospital. The one I have to attend. I am terrified on two counts 1 because of past experience and 2 I don't want to go blind, I read and read and read, my job depends on my reading. has anyone else been in a similar position? I can't tell my GP he would think I am an idiot, my husband keeps saying not to worry he will be with me but it is not helping.

If you distrust the hospital then you distrust the hospital regardless of outcome. Why do you only feel this way towards them now that they have found something? For every unfortunate experience you have had, I dare say there have been loads of positive ones for others. I think that is very important to hold onto as sadly mistakes will get made because you are dealing with people. You have several choices: change hospital, don't go (is this a good idea?) or go and see what is said. Your husband is going to be there as support. Why not talk to your doctor and tell him how you feel? Good luck!

I know it is futile to say please try not to worry, but at the end of the day worrying will not change the outcome and will just make you ill. Waiting for results of appointments like this is the worst place to be, believe me, I know. Good luck. x

I am calm , I have confidence , I have courage, you have all three try believing in them .....go on you can do it ....Kat x
