Nervous about Nephropathy

Although I’ve had T1D for 4 years now, it’s finally really hit me that anything could happen if I don’t manage my blood sugars.
I don’t know what to think; even though my A1C is 6.6, I still freak out when I go high.
I’ve been crying a lot lately because I feel frustrated and scared- I think part of it is that I understand harm can be done with high blood sugars, but I guess I’m unsure what conditions my blood sugars must be in to cause danage to my kidneys, eyes, nerves, etc.
Like I said, what conditions do my blood sugars have to be in to cause complications? Please help lol

In my diabetes and education class they told us that a1cs 8 and up can cause damage to your body.

I've only been type 2 for 2 months now and I worry sometimes, but I only worry and think about it when I'm alone but when I'm surrounded by friends or family then I don't think about it or worry about it.

Their have been many before us that have shown us what can happen if we don't watch our sugars, whenever you feel like crying reach out to a friend or family member.

High blood sugars for short periods of time are fine. With an A1c of 6.6, you really don't have much to worry about at all. And you have so long to bring that down further before it even has the possibility of causing problems. Keep up what you're doing and you'll be fine :)

Stay in control and make sure you don't fall off or slip.

Complications will only happen if you neglect yourself.

A family friend has been T1 for over 44 years and he never had any complications whatsoever because he was very well controlled and disciplined.
