neuropathy in wrists

Hi guys just a quick question as anyone who has followed my story will know my control is horrendous and i suffer some neuropathy in my right wrist ( it also comes and goes in the left one). Its made better by wearing a support but a half decent one that lasts more than a week costs a bomb.. ( im on a low income) Is there any way to get one cheaper or free because of the diabetes and neuropathy?

Are you sure its neuropathy and not carpel tunnel syndrome?
 
My doctor thought it could have been carpel tunnel but said my "pins and needles" type symptom was in the wrong place or something...

Ask for electrical tests on your hand..... Diabetics are likely to get carpel tunnel and depending how bad it is can vary how you get the pain.... Mine felt like acid in my veins running right up to my elbow at night.

Has the support You Purchased got a metal splint in it and do you just wear it at night? Is the pain worse at night?

Please ask your gp for the electrical test in your hand if you haven't had it done.
 
No its a neoprane support and i only wear one if the pain flares up and the pain tends to beworse first thin in the morning.. what do i ask for at the gp?
 
Ask for the carpal tunnel nerve conduction test...

Its only small electric messages sent down your fingers.. Nothing to worry about.

I would put money on it that you have carpal tunnel syndrome. But I'm not in anyway a medic or professional .. Just my opinion...

No point paying out more money when on a limited option when the it could just involve the GP doing a referralto get the tests done.
If they are negative then other options of spending money wisely should be taken.. But initially I would ask just for the nerve conduction test to be done.
 
Hi Novowolf the physio dept. can supply wrist supports. Do ask for a referral though so you can find out exactly what it is you have.

Some physio's sadly don't supply anymore...you have to buy your own. Even if you are told you have carpal tunnel then some hospitals tell you what to buy, but don't supply. Its another postcode lottery I'm

Daft really as a simple splint at low cost would save the cost of surgery and a load of pain killers.

Totally agree.... And no additional chemicals going in to our bodies either!!

Just what I have found in our CCG area..(we are also the only CCG in ENgland that don't automatically upgrade pumps at 4 years either....

Do please ask your GP for a Carpal Tunnel nerve conduction test... If he thought it might be, then dismissed the idea then he should really have tested to be sure especially as diabetics are prone to carpal tunnel as well as the neuropathy.
