Hi there barabas - Having had a trauma related neuropathy on my ribs a couple of years ago, that lasted several months, I empathise with the pain you must be going through. That said, fortunately, I haven't had diabetic neuropathy.

I have seen a number of threads, over time, just like yours, and can earnestly say that a number of people have found their neuropathy has eased, or indeed disappeared as they have grappled their blood sugars into order.

Whether you, or anyone else can halt or reverse their neuropathy, nobody knows until they try.

Really, really good luck with it all.

Getting your sugars in order is first and foremost but many of us ( me included) have found lots of relief ( mine gone) from the supplement R ALA
( alpha lipoic acid)

Kristin, I think you might have meant to respond to @barabas ?

(My traumatic neuropathy sorted itself out when the bone trauma healed. I'll spare you the details.)

Mine did too. Its back now not on r-ala but having an op in a few months and don't want any unknowns to complicate surgery. :(
I'll tag @barabas for you @Kristin251 . :)

Not so glad as I am! Underwear was very difficult indeed for quite some time.

I think in part it relates to what symptoms you are getting.
Neuropathic pain and tingling are said to resolve with time, but I am not convinced this is reliable ; good gluocse control has helped; it would be wise to be vitamin D replete; drugs such as duloxetine, pregabalin and gabapentin and opiates help, but the side effects can be difficult.
Not sure about numbness.
But other causes of neuropathy are common, so it is sensible to check not short of vitamin B12, not hypothyroid, not on excess alcohol and serum electrophoresis is OK (it generally is). If neuropathy is due to something else, one can halt it and possibly improve it.
My neuropathy is due to lack of B12 and Vit D; it has improved noticeably over 6 months, but my toes are still a bit numb
Best wishes

I was just talking to my reflexologist about this very thing. She said she has had some success in reversing neuropathy using reflexology. I don't suffer from it myself, so can't attest to it personally, but maybe someone else on the forum has had some improvement? I'm not a great fan of alternative treatments on the whole, but have found reflexology very beneficial-it even vastly improved my hormone levels when I was trying for IVF many years ago. I'm guessing the most important thing is to get your bloods under control, but it might be worth thinking about reflexology as well?
