Hi All,
Haven't posted for a long while.
I've been type 1 for 6.5 years with good control HBa1C varying between 7 and 7.8.
I was attending chiropdy appointment late October, and I mentioned the sensations I was having in my feet to him, and he thought it was neuropathy, and told me to let my DSN/Consultant know about it the next time I was due for an appointment.
Saw my DSN yesterday and told her that I've started to have neuropathy (so I think). I noticed the symptoms in late October, burning in my big toe, vibration in my foot. Didn't think much of it at the time. She couldn't understand how I've started to get neuropathy, as I have good control and the fact that I've only been diabetic for 6.5 years. As I had mentioned to her, when I was diagnosed I used to have hypos for years (not very often), but I didn't know what they were then. I would get low sugars, say after exercising or long periods without food. My DSN said, it could be a possibility that I had type 2 for years before being diagnosed with type 1.
DSN is going to arrange an appointment for me to see the consultant within a month!, so that he can do further test to confirm neuropathy, and discuss treatment.
Has anyone else got neuropathy in early stages of being diabetic?
Another thing that my DSN though it could be is Raynauds, which is similar to neuropathy.
Anyd advice would be appreciated.
Best wishes.
Beth.
