Hi everyone,

Evidently, there are some among the community of healthcare professionals who deal with diabetes, such as the endocrinologist in the article in the link below, who now advocate treating people in the early stages of the disease with insulin rather than the standard approach of medication first. Seemingly, the idea behind this is that administering insulin at the outset amount to a form of shock therapy that galvanizes the beta cells back into action. It is, of course, only one approach, and not all specialists agree with it.

Here is the interview: http://asweetlife.org/feature/a-nov...iabetes-short-term-intensive-insulin-therapy/

The doctor in the article linked to above says,
"In her private practice she has brought over 80 patients with complicated diabetes to a place where their diabetes is much easier to manage, and they have near normal HbA1c’s."

Many on this site have brought down their HbA1c's to normal (not near normal) simply by reducing carbohydrate intake!

I take your point. Obviously nothing will help much if you don't work to get your weight down.
