Starting Saturday, don’t miss our five-part serialisation of Dr Michael Mosley’s new 8-week diet aimed at reducing blood sugar levels. Following the success of his 5:2 or ‘Fast Diet’, Dr Mosley has turned his attention to problematic blood sugar levels and warns that one in three Britons have pre-diabetes (abnormally high blood sugar levels not yet in the diabetic range) and don’t even know it!

Is that the Blood Sugar Diet, apparently based on the 800cal ND? Except with Med-style real food, rather than shakes. I believe the book has already come out.
I won't be trying it, as I'm very happy with LCHF and IF (down to 30.5 BMI)

As my husband gets the Mail I read the article with interest and, although I don't think it tells us who come on this website anything new, I think it would be of interest to people who may not have any awareness of the damage done by blood glucose, so that's got to be a good thing I await the next instalment with interest.

I would read it, but I made a promise to myself years ago that if I ever read the Daily Mail/Express I would kill myself instantly.

I used to really like him but he's starting to profit from these diets. 5:2 wasn't his brainchild but he capitalised on it and now we have this one which I'm sure has also been done before.

I debated getting the paper today but decided not to!

From reading the first part online and another thread here, it sounds like he's created a real food version of the Newcastle Diet?

You missed a great marketing opportunity, @Andrew Colvin

That's why I like Jason Fung. He's doing his studies and informing the world without profiting from a series in the Daily Mail

A food version of Newcastle diet would need so much more willpower than low carbing and seems a bit too risky of failure. Why torture yourself when you can eat lovely food with lots carb? Seems daft to me!!

@Larissima: Yes, his book is out, and you can download a Kindle version of it from Amazon, for jus £3.50. He does give some credit where credit's due, and mentions our own Dr Unwin. Foreward by Prof Taylor. There's a thread about it here.

I think it will take a celebrity chef doing a series on TV about LCHF to change things ,he will take the credit make millions but people will take notice.

I'm so fed up with Michael Mosely. It seems every time I turn on tv or open a paper,!there is his smug face telling us what to do, how to eat etc & doing very nicely thank you very much mugs. Who do we believe, him telling us we can reverse diabetes (but only if type 2) or the rest who tell us by the time we're diagnosed it's too late but we can control it with diet/meds. Don't think he can tell us what most have us have gleaned from this site & forums

But his documentary about fasting was really interesting. he went from prediabetic sugars to normal, after just fasting for 3 days in it,using himself as an example, and that is quite powerful in my opinion.

Maybe it's just that he always looks so smug & has an I know better than you attitude that gets up my nose

lol - oh well money isn't everything

I quite like him. And at least people might listen to him. Remember not all have access to the internet.

Yes, I think you are correct.

I might even accept Jamie advocating it (although I'd still want to punch his fat face)

I like Dr Mosley. If we are going to hear about diets from telly folk, I would much rather it was from him that Davina with her sugar-free/maple-syrup diet.
