New doctor said I had a "lipo"?

So, a few weeks ago I went and saw a new diabetic consultant, and as per the norm, he wanted to have a look at my usual injection sites, at the time I only used my stomach, occasionally my arms, and he (i kid you not) gasped when he saw my stomach, he said that I had to stop injecting in it as it was the biggest lipo he'd seen in some one my age (25)
Thing is, I don't actually understand what he meant by a "lipo" I only know it via the plastic surgery term liposuction, and i'm pretty dang sure he wasn't talking about that!! Have searched on the old Google, but all I keep finding is surgery websites! So does any one know what he meant my "lipo" is it just another term for stomach, or is it due to fat deposits etc on my stomach? And does it have to be sorted with surgery, or can I loose it via dieting?

Thank you in advance for all answers! lol,

thank you for the link, some of it does seem to be familiar to my stomach, apart from the fact that it's bigger than an inch, it's my whole upper abdominal area and It's not lumpy. but it is firm and it could explain they absurd highs and lows i have some times! Have been following his advice of not using the area for a month, but the article says 2-3 months, so may do that just to make sure!

You can also use your legs and buttocks to inject, poor insulin absorption is a classic sign of lipohypertrophy and I suspect it may take longer than 2-3 months for your stomach to recover.

Always best to rotate injection sites, I inject my basal insulin in the legs and buttocks and bolus doses in the stomach and arms.

I do rotate my sites now, swap between my legs and my arms, morning ones in either leg, lunch in one arm, dinner in other! lol, hopefully it'll go with time!

Now I know what those lumps are. I figured they were something to do with the injection sites from when I was on byetta and then bydureon, but I can't remember being told anything about them by the nurse/doctor/consultant. Thanks.

Well that's good, I've still got some signs of lipo from when I first started injecting insulin, much like you I overused the stomach but now make sure to rotate injection sites with every injection.
