Well blow me down...
I went for my 3 month review with my DSN this morning to talk about my latest HbA1c and Cholesterol results. I took along a load of printouts to evangelise the low carb way. Thought I was going to have a battle. Not a bit of it.
She spent the whole half hour asking me how the hell I did it and that she was pretty speechless when she saw my results. So I explained and told her to read the printouts as they would tell her what I've been up to the last 4 months. After giving her a brief guide to LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) she said it was even more impressive considering I have normalised my Cholesterol and upped my good HDL in the process. She said my control is brilliant especially my two hour results. I said I was worried that as I'd done so well they'd take my Metformin away and she said "no way it obviously works so don't worry"
Net result she wants me to go talk to the surgeries diabetic specialist gp to tell him what I did and booked a double appointment for me to do so and, get this, prior to my appointment she is going to tell the gp all about my efforts and recommend to him that I get test strips because "the evidence is there for anyone to see" that it works.
I am so pleased not just for me but for new patients who she'll now see and pass the message onto.
