Hi all,
I've just had a letter from my GP this morning saying they are changing me over to an Element meter due to an 'NHS process to improve and review the use of blood glucose meters' (I am reading that as 'cheaper). I've used Accucheck meters for the last 16 years and always liked them (I'm Type1), so was just wondering if anyone had any experience of these meters and if I really have to change?
Thanks x

Your the second member today saying that their gp surgery wants to change them over to a new meter. All I would suggest is you make a case to the practice on why you want to keep using your present meter, good luck.

Ah not alone then. Do you know of anyone using it already? I dont mind switching if it's just as good but my cynical mind says it is cheaper model and I'm not sure if cheaper is better!

I am not a fan of Element, always read high and sometimes double Accu-chek meters. I complained to surgery and am now allowed to use any system I choose - currently Accu-chek mobile and Freestyle Lite.
