New guitar day

What are you getting? I currently have 4 basses - been playing since '73

I'm getting a tanglewood warrior, I wanted a second bass to play drop tuned for a couple songs as our singer has trouble with high notes! I play in a function band with a brass section, I only joined a couple month ago but its ace. I've also got an ibanez sr600 and a fretless p bass special from the early 90's but its in need of a refurb! What basses do you own? Are you in a band just now?

Nice

I have a Precision (78), Rick 4001 (78) - both with flatwounds. Warwick FNA Jazzman 5 string (2002) and a Boulder Creek acoustic which I got last year. Currently doing a lot of recording although we gig very occasionally. I was in a band with a brass section about 10 years ago - awesome sound.

Jeez your rick will be worth a pound or two! Had a shot of a 4001 once, such a nice tone, beautiful. Next on my list is a semi hollow gretsch, will have to save for a while tho! I'm having to hire a rig just now tho so will probably have to concentrate on that! Yeah, love brass, its a joy to play with it.

Its always exciting when a new toy comes your way

I only have a very cheap old Aria 'Precision' copy that I bought for about £30 for a home studio project but I have way to many guitars both electric and acoustic plus amps, pedals, pedal boards, boxes of pups and bits and pieces, it can get to be a bit of an obsession :***:

I watched a video of Wilco Johnson talking about his life since he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January, a very moving video. In it he mentioned that Fender have released a "Wilco Signature Telecaster" which I would dearly like to buy, I havent told the wife yet!!

I may have to sell a few of the guitars I no longer play and finance a new one that way but selling guitars is like selling your kids

For anyone interested here is the link to the latest on Wilco Johnson as reported in the Telegraph three days ago http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/musi ... dying.html

Oh, I didn't know he'd been diagnosed with cancer. Poor guy, absolute legend! He's taking it like a legend too! Yeah, I'm officially addicted to pedals! I'm after an ashdown twin envelope filter just now. Got two coming today with the bass, ehx bassballs and a mooer fog, I get everything delivered to my work re the wife! Arias are not bad, my school had one and it was pretty good. That was about 15 years ago tho!

Yes its OK in fact its great for the price I paid, the bass player in the last band I played with came round a few weeks back and he reckoned it played OK, I have a little Warwick 15w bass combo just right for home use but I'm no bassist and rarely pick it up, its just nice to have for a jam when a mate comes round

Just wanted to share that today is new guitar day.

Lucky you, my last guitar was a Gibson Firebrand 335 which I sold to buy a new 3 piece suit

The joys of marriage

Yep, been there! For 5 years I didn't pick a bass up. A thoroughly miserable period! Changed days now tho ;-) and anyway, its difficult to get a tune out of a three piece suite! Lol
