Anyone know how we relate the new numbers (millimol per mol) for Hb1Ac, to the millimol per litre as recorded on my BG meter?

This might help if you relate the meter reading from tables elsewhere to current Hba1c then..... IFCC-HbA1c (mmol/mol) = [DCCT-HbA1c (%)- 2.15] x 10.929.

****, I had a conversion chart but it seems to have been removed already.

The "official" charts don't go below 6. This one was comprehensive.

Thanks.
First what is IFCC and DCCT?
Second where are the conversions that show any results for mmol/L to mm/Mol?

Try and find somebody with an iphone as there is a standard conversion programme whcih has BG.

good luck.

just waiting on my new results. When diagnosed I was 10. unforutantley, will not know until I see the doctor in a couple of weeks (although I will probably phone the surgery next week)

Hi
Sorted the DCCT out, thanks. I found a simple conversion from old Hb1Ac(percentage) to new
millimol/mol.
It is called take away two then 2 again
For eg HbiAc of 7% is 53 mmol/mol
Thus 7-2=5
5-2=3
Answer=53mmmol/mol.
eg 2 HbA1c of 12% is 108mmol/mol
12-2=10
10-2=8
Answer=108mmol/mol.
The reason for the change was that the old DCCT numbers and the new IFCC numbers were to close (within 2%) and it was considered that it may be too confusing! Hence the new system.
I hope our GPs keep up with this.

I don't think that the conversion is linear but I can' t seem to get an image of the figures starting with BG from meter to current Hba1c to the new system.
