Hello

I am 33 years old and a mother of 5.

I was a gestational diabetic and injecting 3 years ago, all was ok after giving birth then when my daughter was 1 I had routine blood test which came back positive.

My daughter is 3 now and been type 2 for 2 years and until 6 months ago I was diet only. Today my HbA1c came back at 9.4 so my metformin is now 2 x 1000mg and I go back in 2 months for another HbA1c.

I have been to the hospital for an itch in the private area  which I have had now for 5 months :(
Consultant has said its all down to poor diabetic care and control of my diabetes and until its sorted I will neve rget rid of the itch :(

Hi, I imagine you are so busy with your kids it is very hard to take care of yourself. After my young son was born and later diagnosed as type 1 diabetic I hadn't managed to even get myself to the dentist for 4 years. Time gets away so quickly.

Now you are aware of what is going on you will need to give yourself a little more priority. Getting rid of the persistant thrush will obviously be a very good side effect of good glucose control.

It doesn't sound like the hospital was very sympathetic or helpful in giving you advice to reduce your blood sugar levels or treat your lady parts.

All the best.

Hi mummy,
Welcome to the forum.
Any questions please ask away. Someone will have an answer for you.
Once you get your blood sugars under control then you should see an improvement in your problems.
