Hi all!

I'm Saskia, 34, mum of a 2 year old and T1 diabetes.... and planning a second pregnancy! Glad I found a website with active members! Very helpful and also interesting to read all your stories and experiences!
At the moment my HBA1C is 7.2, a bit to high to become pregnant but I'm working on it!
The problem at the moment are my basal rates, trying to figure out what works for me as my body has changed after my first pregnancy. Also developing hypo unawareness, first signals are often below 2.....
I would love to get in touch with other mums or mums to be for some support.
I'm on the minimed 512 pump and I'm using novorapid. Because I moved house I'm now with a new diabetes team ( St Richards in Chichester) and they are the best!!

Hope to hear from you!
Saskia :D

Hi Saskia

I am on the same pump using humanlog and been on it since jan 2011 I am planning my first baby soon and join here today to get advice/support myself.

I have been diabetic for 15 years and now I am 30 wanting a baby. My hba1c would never go below 8.2 and kept hypoing in the night without knowing my bf helps in these situations all I would know is a horrible headache, my hypos are pretty bad always in the 2s sometimes 1s - not good.

So got the pump and been a massive help, my hba1c is know 6.6 so very pleased and docs given me the go ahead.

The best advice is to have the blood sensor on now and again through your docs and this joins the dots between you testing and you can actually see what happens with your sugars 24/7 I have wore it twice on 10 months for a week at a time - we then readjust the basal, bolus and corrections, I were having same hypo and high each day. Since amending the pump seem even better.

Carb counting is important as make an error here always has a knock on affect.

Good Luck with getting pregnant and let me know if you want more help
