Hi,

I've just been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes and haven't seen anybody about it yet. I thought it would be useful because when I look at Low GI food lists on the internet the same foods seem to be listed as high and low on different sites - so now I'm totally confused  If anybody could recommend an accurate, comprehensive list of low GI foods I would be really grateful :D ...and Hi to everbody.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

The best database for low G.I. foods is http://www.glycemicindex.com/ The book that I would recommend is "The GI Diet" by Rick Gallop. This book is not just food lists but has so much else in it.
I agree that different sites post different values.
Remember that even thought it is classed as low G.I. it still may not be suitable for you. The need to test does not go away. If it raises your blood sugars too high then try a smaller portion and if that does not work then it will not be suitable. You may get away with a smaller portion if the rest of the food you eat at that time is low G.I. as the overall value is then low. All this and more is explained in the book.

Welcome to the site, lots of really good information and advice if you ask or look. Good luck with the pregnancy.

Diane
