Hi. I've just found this forum, and hoefully you guys will be able to answer a question that's been bugging me for a few years now.

I developed gestational diabetes 4 and a half years ago with my second child. I now have annual fasting blood tests just to keep a check on things (I've got one tomorrow).

I've tried to be good with my sugar intake for the past 4 years as I found my diet during pregnancy cured many symptoms I'd struggled with for years - hypoglycemia being the main one - which has made a huge difference to the things I'm able to do (like leave the house without a supply of food!)

So, my question is, is undiagnosed diabetes that's controlled by diet the same as not having diabetes? (I know that's slightly confusing, but I'm not sure how else to word it).

Thanks for your time

Hi Jupiter, unfortunately i can't help you with your question but just to say good luck with your bloods for 2mora. You will however get loads of info on this site from the vast experience of the people who read it and i'm sure you'll find out what you need

GOOD LUCK AND TAKE CARE

Thanks for the link, Sue. I've pretty much sorted my hypos out now, although I did wake up at 5am the other morning and had to stumble to the kitchen for some food (perhaps a slice of toast and fruit spread wasn't the most sensible thing to eat just before bed time  )

At least, after being diagnosed in pregnancy, I know the problem now - it stems from eating a low fat diet for years to control my weight (thinking I was being so good) and not really realising how much sugar is in a Nutrigrain bar, or all the other low fat stuff.
