Hiyaa!

I'm Hollister.
Thought it would be a good start introducing myself on here & possibly make some new diabetes buddies!

I am a Type 1 diabetic.
Diagnosed April/May 2007 when I was 11 years old.
I was diagnosed in Spain, but I currently live in England.

When first starting out, I was all over my diabetes like a rash. It didn't go over & it didn't go under. I dedicated my life to it.. However, I missed a year of school for this. And couldn't find a balance for diabetes versus the rest of my life. I didn't leave the house for 8 months. I was young and scared!

Since then I have progressed far, however, I hit a stage of "I don't want this anymore".
In and out of hospital a few times & i've decided I need to get on it.

My last HBA1C was over 14%.
Before that my highest was 7%, then I started skipping appointments!

I'm not here to motivate myself and make some new friends along the way

Hi you...I've seen you around but thought I'd pop in and say an official "hello".

*waves*

Luckily (and I do believe I'm lucky) my glucose levels are "only" in the prediabetic range, so I'm doing everything I can to reverse any damage that's been done...hopefully I'm not too late. However, please please don't think I'm nagging when I say this...you're only young and have your whole life ahead of you...please do take care of yourself, be brave and go to your appointments. I think you'll kick yourself in the future if you don't...make those changes now before it's too late.

Ok, that's the serious "motherly love" talk over with...
