Hello! i am am a 37 yr old Diabetic who had diabetes for abouts 25 years. I am a DAFNE lover and advocate after doing the course a few years ago which changed my life amazingly and I now eat what i want when i want ! I have a little boy of 14 months and had a good pregnancy and have a v healthy little boy. I have joined this forum today because for the last few years i have been on a great one with some like minded people in my pregnancy/post birth section but i am a little tired of preaching moderators who are very old school. I personally think it is individual how you manage your diabetes and the decisions you make about it and I dont like being preached to. During my pregancy my hba1c got down to 7.2 which i was pleased with tho it has been harder to manage since the delights of breastfeeding and mothering (read running around like a blueish fly..), am due to get my latest hba1c today. I am looking for a supportive environment where people are "allowed" to be feisty and opinionated. DAFNE really has been brilliant for me and as I have no complications I see no reason why i shouldn't manage my diabetes my way.. will have a skoot round and see if i can find the relevant sections for me!! :D

Welcome to the forum hayley! :)

Your **** right that it is ''individual how you manage your diabetes'' and that is what we try to stress on this forum time and time again to members old and new. As for being ''feisty and opinionated''-well keep it within reason and I don't see any problems, but do read the forum rules for what is and isn't allowed.

Glad to read you enjoyed and learnt a lot from the DAFNE course, I too am a graduate and it has undoubtedly help me to understand and control my condition better.

Nigel
