Hi, I posted the other week when I was really unwell, and I have since had my hospital appointment. I’ve had pancreatitis and docs thought I could be type 1. The consultant is still saying type 2 but keeping regular checks and put me on Mounjaro and I have to go back in 4 weeks for checks.
So on my letter they sent to my gp it’s listed health conditions one being chronic renal impairment, but my egfr is normal - does this mean it will keep getting worse? If I manage to get everything under control can my kidneys repair? Am I still able to eat a high protein diet with low carb? I don’t want to make anything worse, and my anxiety about it has been triggering my eating disorder again where I don’t want to eat anything

Have you asked what test results show chronic renal impairment?
This really is something to discuss with your doctor, if you haven't been told what your test results mean, you should be filled in on them.

>It is really difficult to answer this since there are major variables. After all, I certainly wouldn't rule out being Type 1. I remember you saying you had high readings and a delayed appointment. I would want to know what they mean by chronic renal impairmdent if your egfr is normal. If you are worried about compromising your kidneys, you could avoid some of the main possible culprits while you are waiting for clear information. Basically anything seed based and high in phosphates. It came as a great shock to me that strawberries are high on the list. I assume they would be fine if you peeled them, but that's taking away some of the essence! Coffee is bad, as is chocolate. For 13 years I was limited to no more than half a pint of milk in a day. Also some fish is fine , but others are to be avoided. This link is by no means exhaustive and where it says sardines should be avoided, they are fine if skinless and boneless. You might be well advised to contact the renal department at your hospital. The would have a guide which is far more expansive than the link suggests. I am very surprised that berries are listed as to be enjoyed. I cant think of any without seeds. Good luck!

I had asked my doctor after seeing it on my records and I was told not to worry as my egfr is normal (in her words ‘off the charts’) - but making me worry with it saying it on my letter from the hospital. My gp isn’t great, my psychiatrist wrote to them to check and do other tests as im constantly tired and yet they’ve ignored their request
