New medication

Hi all I've been T2 for 10years now since I retired at 65 my A1C has increased over this time and now running at about 67.
Most medication I've used over this time has worked great for about 1 to 2 years then my level start to creep up again my BMI at 25.5 is just slightly over ideal but dietician says this is fine as better to be slightly over weight to fight off any infections in later life.
I have now started on 1 Dapagliflozin tablet a day well 3 weeks now and so far appears to be working great.
Has anyone on forum been using using this med for year or two and their thoughts about it thanks. Kyler
 
My A1c was 74 on diagnosis and, like you, my BMI was just over 25. Weight loss pulled my BMI down to 21 and the A1c down to 42. So I expect I now have poor reserves to cope with infections or other illnesses. But the A1c is stable and I can confortably deal with at least 130g of daily carbs. It’s a trade-off and hard to evaluate.
 
After I was put on Dapagliflozin ..my HbA1c dropped from 108mmol/mol to 78mmol/mol over 13 weeks ..but climbed back to 89mmol/mol ten weeks later ..my one bit of advice would be to plan ✻toilet stops✻ when out and about.

That's my concern with most meds I started out when diagnosed 10years ago A1C at 105 my doctor bless her said I was prediabetic a year earlier but omitted to inform me.
Anyway like most people I started with Metformin max I could tolerate daily was 1250mg SR BMI at this time 27.
I did get A1C down into 40 range but it crept back into 50 then 60 over few years.
Added alogliptin great for 1 year then crept back added gliclazide 1 at 1st now 3 a day great for 3 years now back up even higher at 67 BMI best I can get about 25 this new med looks promising and yes pass more water which is ok as drinking more water my concern 2/3 year down line is this pill just another short term fix.
