New medication

Hi all I've just joined group and would like some advice please. I have type 2 diabetes and I have been put on Ramipril 2.5mg a day for one month. This was because I had a small amount of protein show up on my last urine sample. Anyone else had this medication?
 
Hello and a big welcome to the forum.

I'm type 1 and I take Ramipril 1.5mg, for exactly the same thing. My kidneys have been clear for quite a while now, so it has worked and has not caused me any problems ( even though some think I take it for blood pressure, but not.

edited to say that I do not take Ramipril for blood pressure

Interesting that it said NOT to prescribe if
  • have diabetes that is not well controlled
When I was prescribed it my bloods were regularly in the 30's!! Doctor never said it was for my kidneys, I just assumed it was another part of the "diabetes cocktail" I was on at that time. Thank goodness I found this site & lchf & bloods are now 5ish. Thanks everyone.

I have had not bad control over the years, but a long time with type 1.
 
My GP prescribed 1.25mg of Ramipril when my BP was very slightly elevated. Last time I saw the DN she said my BP was actually OK but to still have the Ramipril to protect the kidneys
