Hi there everyone, I'm a new member today. I have had Type 2 diabetes for just over a year now and I take Metformin, one tablet twice a day after meals. Initially I felt devastated, but knew the Doctor was going to diagnose it as my eyesight had got very weak in a short space of time and I felt really strange, both my parents have type 2 and I felt the impending doom looming especially as I am overweight and have difficulty exercising due to disability. After a couple of weeks nearly starving myself, afraid to eat the wrong things, I went to my first appointment with the nurse and was told to eat normally. Once I calmed down and started eating normal meals my glucose readings went from 22 to 6 in a few weeks. The Metformin worked well and I reduced dose from 4 to 2 a day. I wouldn't say I had a poor diet, in fact I thought it was pretty good, plenty of fruit and veg, but it's surprising how much sugar certain foods contain. Being overweight is my main problem and lack of enough exercise is an even bigger one. :-(

Sorry to ramble on x
