Hi there!

I'm not following you round the website....honetly. I just have to say that I've notice, as a newcomer this week, that you have a wicked sense of humour! Long may it reign!!

Hi Juliette, was wondering if you could offer any advice with regards to diet, would love to lose around 8/9 stone (currently 18ish stone). If you could offer some advice (my knowledge of food etc is shocking as live on takeaways and highly processed foods unfortunately, but don't know where to start!). Any information or help you could give would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

(Moderator edit to note that this post was originally in the Greetings and Introduction thread but we have moved it and its reply to a new dedicated thread.)

Hi @Sarah1976 , welcome to the forum.
The post you quoted was posted in 2012, and the member you quoted was last seen in 2013 so chances are slim that they will reply.

As for information on the basics of T2 and tackling it through diet, I can recommend this short and informative piece written by one of our members: https://josekalsbeek.blogspot.com/2019/11/the-nutritional-thingy.html
Many of our members found they lost a substantial amount of weight as well by reducing carbs but not calories, so no hunger pangs. Have a look in this section of the forum if you'd like to hear about their experiences: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/category/success-stories-and-testimonials.43/

I saw in another post that you are about to start gliclazide. Be very careful with significant changes in diet on this medication. it can cause hypos or low blood glucose.
Make sure to always carry your meter and some quick acting sugary stuff on you in case you go too low!
