hi, i'm really really new to this, i've never posted anything on this kind of thing before. I'm karen, 38yrs old and have had type 1 diabetes for around 18month. Not managing it very well at all, suffering with high blood sugar most of the time, also have ceoliac disease :( . just wondering if anyone can help me, for the last few days my thigh has been numb - is this to do with my diabetes? Looking forward to hearing from some new friends :P thank you :P

Hi Kazlou and welcome to the forum. :D

Sorry I can’t really help you as I am a T2 but hopefully a T1 will be along shortly. This is a brilliant resource with helpful information and friendly people so you will soon feel 'at home'.

As for the numb thigh I would suggest that you get it checked out at the doctors.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I'd get the thigh checked out at the drs if I were you. re: high blood sugar, maybe ask your diabetes team to go over how to adjust your insulin again?

Try and get a balanced diet to start with, as this will help you to know what to inject each meal. From here you can then start to inject more or less depending on what you eat.

hi to everyone!! i am new at this forum. well, i am type 1 , 25 years old.i have diabetes for year and a half..my blood sugars are ok. they rarely go up. sorry if my English is bed, i am not from UK..
anyway, Kazlou maybe you give a shoots to often in your thigh. if that is not a reason, then i don"t know but probably is has nothing to do with your diabetes.

Hi Kazlou, I'm new to all this forum stuff too :D ( though been diabetic for far too long!!!) :( I've never heard of numb thigh being anything to do with the diabetes but I know nothing!! You've come to an amazing place filled with wonderful people who can help with just about anything!! I hope that you get you're blood sugars sorted out and I know first hand how hard that is! but you'll fee better - PROMISE :D :D and get to the doctors and see about your leg - just incase, you may have bumped it right on a nerve without realising or something daft but your better safe than sorry!!
Lemme know how you get on with that though ( i'm a beauty therapist and things and reasons for that really interest me! weird yes but tru!!)

Kazlou,

In order to achieve good stable diabetes control, you need try and match your insulin better to the carbs you are eating at each meal-time. In order to do this, ask your diabetes nurse for advice and ask about any carb counting courses in your area.

As for the numb thigh, again I would suggest that you see your gp, as the cause could be a number of things and not necessarily diabetes related.
