Welcome to the group Myrtle, I hope you find it helpful. Please bear in mind that when we are discussing numbers UK units are different to American ones so you may need to convert them depending on who you are speaking to

Hello and welcome, @Stevo1966
There is advice for new members in the signature at the end of my post. Scroll down to find it. Have a read, then come back with any questions you have. Our members are generally a helpful bunch, willing to assist.

Lots of advice and information on this site. Just take it a step at a time. Do you know what your Hba1c was? You need to know where you are aiming for. Keeping a food diary and testing and finger pricking a good idea. That way you can figure out what you need to do. Any questions just come on here and ask. Best of Luck.

Hi Filly. Hba1c hovers around 7.5 so using this total meal replacement diet means I’m hoping for remission. No issues with testing and what not. Retired health professional so nothing alien to me. Also had brain surgery 4 times for aneurysm so I’m pretty used to being stuck with needles as well as using them. 4 shakes a day to eat for 3 months is a tough call though. No pain no gain I suppose. Gotta try

Hello and welcome @Stevo1966

I like many others here have been able to achieve remission (if that's the right word) by going very low carb rather than meal replacement diets. However, my position is that whatever works for you is the way to go. I personally find the lower carb I go then less I crave them. I love carbs so have to be vigilant nt to allow carb creep. My levels have been in the normal range for over 3 years.

As I am assuming you have a meter I think you will find that a very useful tool to work out what your body can tolerate.

Read around the forum. I found it a life saver when first diagnosed. I also 'met' some of the most amazing people I know here.

Good luck and welcome

Thanks buddy. I’m learning a little each day. Keep well

HI Myrtle, I'm new too. My daughter has been diabetic for a year and a half. I want to find psychological support here and share my experience
@Mirandul Please be aware there are 2 main types of diabetes, type 1 and type 2. They are very different from each other and require different management, treatment and medications. Just be careful in reading posts aimed at T 2s, they may not be appropriate for your daughter. There are threads just for parents which you may find helpful.
