Joined this forum a few weeks ago just so I could down load the fancy Hba1c chart lol, I am 55 yrs old and have been a type 1 diabetic for about 25 years.
Anyway I'm seriously thinking about going on the pump and after speaking to my nurse just 3 days ago I was told I need to do a D.A.P.H.N.E course before hand so I'm on the waiting list for that.
Why do I want to go on pump? well hopefully it will be a contributory factor in better control but my real reason is the reduction in injections and the fact having a pump the insulin is delivered out of sight.
I cannot always disappear to take an injection at work which is a problem when I need to use my thighs as I work in an environment where there are a lot of people and dropping ones trousers isn't going to go down well even though I am able to partially remove myself from view. Injecting in my belly area isn't a problem no matter where I am I just get on with it.
Add to that when I go fishing pumping insulin will be much more convenient.
Without a doubt there are pro's and con's and I will read about them on here as well as experience them should I be granted a pump.
Well I'm off now to eat and will return to read through the many topics on this forum.
Regards
Martin
