new meter tomorrow, which one

hi all, i have been browsing these forums for a long time however i've only just registered, i don't think you guys realise how your advice to registered users on here, help probably hundreds of others who are simply just browsing for an answer to their issues.

i am on a carb counting course at the moment and tomorrow is my last day and i get to chose between the insulinx meter and the accu chek expert, i've looked at both and no what they do, i've searched forums and websites and got all the information but i don't know which one to chose - so i thought maybe some of you may have experience with one, or even both and can give me first hand views on them... or if you haven't had chance to play with them, which one would you chose?

My insulin pump (Combo) remote is the same meter has the Expert just has the bluetooth for the pump added to it...

So I can give a review for the expert based on my remote..

Pretty easy to use, once you've taken you BG it automatically to the bolus wizard, and will give you information to how much QA you've got on board, and will if necessary show you how much insulin its going to deduct from the suggested dose if you are going to make a correction or eat carbs etc.. You fill all relevant info, about health, exercise etc then it does it calculations to give you the suggest dose..

You can also go straight to the bolus wizard from the start menu,

Reports, averages and you data is easy accessible from the main menu..

The only snag to it, is to transfer data to computer, you need their inferred duffer, which they normally supply with software but there can be a knack to it though..

I've taken a look at the Abbot meter..

Nice that it has a touch screen, but there again you could be wasting batteries power by accidentally touching the screen, and another problem could be hand size, so you can't easily locate what you want, finger too big to transgresses over onto another button!

Also watching the demo, I really didn't like having to go through several windows to get to how much insulin to inject!

But I would see if they let you have a play, so that you can see how you feel about the navigations between the two, and whether something like is one screen larger than the other, so makes seeing the information easier for you etc...

My son is 3 and had the accu chek expert before we went onto the pump. He now has the accu chek combo which is his remote control for the pump and his blood checker. It is basically the same machine as the expert. I found it to be very good, and still do as you can program it with all your own personal info and (as long as your ratios are correct roblem: !) it gives an accurate suggestion for doses. You can program insulin to carb ratio for different times of the day and insulin correction factor.
I don't have any knowledge of the other meter you mentioned though sorry!
