New style HbA1c readings

I have just received my HbA1c reading which is now given as 59. I dont how good or bad that is. I have certainly increased from last year but dont know how bad 59 is.

I am seeing my doctor next week for my yearly check where I am sure she will have a "go" about my increased reading.

The receptionist who gave me the result said that the level should be between 20 and 48 but this is for a non-diabetic.

Any thoughts please.

Barb,

if you
a) click on the Diabetes.co.uk logo at the top of the page
b) click on the large red banner, where it says Blood Sugar Converter
c) click on HbA1c Units Converter on the left
d) enter 59 in the lower part and click convert

voila !

an HbA1c of 7.5.
I see you were 6.5. Time for action - you're not in this alone !
