New to forum - does having a cold raise your sugars

I was diagnosed with T2 about 5 years ago and have been on insulin (Humalog Mix 25) since November 2011. My sugar levels went up to 10.2 on Sunday and I didn't really know why but I then started to come down with a cold. Would this be the reason? What is the best thing to do - just increase my insulin until the cold goes? Should my sugar levels start go back down when the cold subsides?

I don't use insulin, but my sugars DON'T go up with a cold unless it's a really bad one. I cut back on carbs if that happens. It always goes down when the cold has gone.

Apparently a cold or virus can put your bs up. I rarely get colds, I take echinacea, its bloody marvellous.

Yes colds or infection can caused raised blood glucose as your liver releases more glucose to help your body fight it off.. If you are insulin controlled then you may need to consider changing your dose..
