Hello I am a type 1 diabetic teenager that was diagnosed a few months ago and lives in America (So I'm on mg/dl and I will make a thread on mg/dl and mmol/L conversion soon) school is starting soon for me and with that, American football. My main problem with my diabetes is that I have been having frequent lows.
If you are having frequent lows, have you discussed this with your diabetic nurse and looked at reducing your insulin?
Hi. Can you tell us more about your insulin regime e.g. I assume it's Basal/Bolus (aka MDI). Have you made sure your Basal is balanced as best you can? This needs to be done before you try to get the Bolus ratio right assuming you carb-count for meals. Have you reduced the carbs in your diet? A good few questions there but it may help narrow things down a bit.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by balanced my basal I assume you mean make sure the fasting numbers are rightHi. Yes, it sounds like you have done both the Basal (getting fasting between 5 & 7) and Bolus adjustments. Other than that I guess it's about trying to smooth carbs a bit during the day.I'm not quite sure what you mean by balanced my basal I assume you mean make sure the fasting numbers are right
We have reduced my carb ratios and basal but also I haven't really been eating lunch during the summer so that's a problem that will be fixed when school starts again.
