Hi my name is susan i live in berkshire i have been type 2 Diabetic for 2 years and 4 months.
i take tablets for my condition
Metformin 2 x 500mg 3 times a day
Gliclozide 80 2 morning and evening 1 hour before meals.
Asprin to thin the blood 75mg 1 tablet
Perindopriol 2 mg 1 a day ( High Blood pressure med)

Doctor s thinking of putting me on BYETTA next month as she is not happy with my HbA1c results which was 9.4 at last count ( 2 months ago). been ok before that was 5.6. so now i have started cutting the carbs to see if there is any change.

I am finding it very hard to get a repore going with my doctor as we dont really see eye to eye and this i fnd very stressful. which is not helping me ask for advice, as last time asked question was told we had run out of time . have tried to chance doctors at my practice but was told shes the only diabetic doctor.

Hello Susan and welcome to the forum! :)

Sorry you are having a tough time with the doctor, it certainly doesn't help! Any chance of changing practice or have you asked about getting a referral to your local hospital who may be more helpful?

It sounds as if cutting back on the carbs might well be your best option anyway. Do you self test?

yes i test my own bloods a few times a week i amd ong it more now as shes told me she wants me to test at diffrent times of the day to see if i can go on the new injection meds ( BYETTA ). yesterday did t at 4.45pm and it was 4.3 mnd u had not eatten since breakfast as i was really busy yesterday. doctor told me the Gliclozide could make me not feel hungry all the time , which i think it does some days. some times i dont feel hungry at all.

Hi Susan :)

Do you think that you would get better results with more regular eating? Is it also what you are eating as in more carbs than you can cope with? :?

Do you test before and after meals to see what your food is doing to your BG levels as this will give you more of an idea than testing at odd times :?:

Hello
Susan
I'm in Berkshire too ( Tilehurst). I'm a low carber and my numbers are consist4ently non-diabetic. I had to come to this myself and my doctor thinks I'm a nutcase, but admits it works. The Diabetes nurse thinks it's a good idea I've been diagnosed nearly 7 years and am still on 2 x 500mg Metformin per day
