Hi All

I'm now to the forum but not really new to diabetes. I was diagnosed T2 in december 2008 and am on metformin, asprin & statins. I am have also got Polycystic ovary syndrome a fatty liver and have a BMI of just under 40. (not good).

Over the past year i haven't really taken being T2 very seriously and eating and drinking what ever i like and not taking my tablets.

I has now stopped, i have to get serious. I got onto the scales the other day and was 1 ib under 18 stone and watching my 2 year old daughter playing and would like another one.

Since the 27th December i have been testing my blood sugars and looking at the food i eat and not snacking. It is amazing what food can do to your levels.

So i have now registered on the forum and any help would be greatful and if i can help anybody i will.

Thanks Catherine

P.s. I have also been told if i don't get my levels sorted and lose weight by March then i may have to go on to injections. :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

hya catherine and a warm welcome to the forum,
have a good look around and ask anything u need to know :D

Hi Catherine,

Of course we want you to do your best to get your weight down and for you to feel better. March is a very short time away when it comes to long term weight loss however. Even pretty strict diets really acheive half a pound to 2 pounds weight loss a week. Be aware that if you want to have another baby you could well need insulin during the pregnancy. There are also newer drugs called byetta and victoza which are not insulin but are injected. They do seem to help weight loss in type twos a lot.

Many people think that jags are the worst thing about diabetes but honestly you will get over it very quickly.

Keep positive. Your health care time should listen to what you want and help you get it.
