Anything that'll wake us up before noon on a weekend...
Hi there!

I'll start off with my name, I'm Níall Hannigan. I'm from Galway (hence the funny spelling of my name). I've been type II diabetic since I was 12 years old. When I was first diagnosed I was put on a low-sugar, low fat diet. Which was great until I started university at the royal college of surgeons. I always thought my bloods were going well until I learnt that the lower my bloods got, the better I'd be. So I switched to a low-carb diet.

I'm a competiive person representing Connacht at rugby union, and putting a big hit on ronan o'gara was the feather in my cap. I also represented my region at Gaelic football. I'm a bit of a nerd and enjoy anything sciency.

Anyway, it's good to be here!

Hi Niall, welcome to the forum.A type two since you were 12? Unusual. What sort of medications if any are you on? Please have a good read round the forum and ask us questions if you have any.

It is unusual. But my twin brother (also a medic, and will most likely be using this account) was diagnosed 2 months before me.

I myself am only controlling with a diet, I've found the low-carb to work best but my brother has to take insulin. My parents let us take part in trials to find genetic factors for the instance of type II diabetes.

I will browse the forums, especially the one labelled diabetic food and low-carb, as I have a couple of questions regarding sushi.

It was magical though. Off the bench on the 60th minute for my debut. first there's a scrum on the munster 22. The ball gets fired back to o gara and I went straight through him...

Anyway glad to be here and there seems to be a small Irish contingent to the forums!

ye were one of the few teams that beat us last year 12-6 in the sportsground.i played a bit myself for thomond many many years ago.

This wasn't last season, it was the season before in a charity match to raise money for the Chernobyl sunflower summer camp. I was supposed to play in the magners league that season but damaged my cruciate ligaments and only played 1 match against Edinburgh.
